The short version

Your notes, files, tests and chats are stored in your own browser, not in a QuizAde database.
When you press a button that needs AI, the relevant text and photos are sent to an AI provider to produce the result, and are not kept by QuizAde.
We store only what we need to run accounts: your email, a hashed password or sign-in identifier, a session token and daily usage counts.
We don't sell your information, show ads, or use advertising or analytics trackers.

1. Who we are

QuizAde (quizade.com) is a study tool that turns class material into practice tests. It is run by an individual developer, referred to here as "we" or "us". Where this policy says "the site", it means quizade.com and its subdomains.

2. Information you give us

Account details. Your email address and, if you sign up with a password, a salted and hashed version of it. We never store the password itself and cannot read it.
Sign in with Google or Apple. If you use one of these, we receive the identifier the provider assigns to you, your email address and, for Google, your name. We don't receive your Google or Apple password and we don't read your mail, contacts, calendar or files.
Study material. Photos, PDFs, text files and anything you type into the app. This is processed as described in section 5.
Messages to us. If you contact us, we keep the message and your email address so we can reply.

3. Information collected automatically

Session token. A random token, stored in a cookie and as a hash on our server, so you stay signed in.
Daily usage counts. How many credits your account has used on the current day, so we can apply the daily limit. We keep these for a few days and then delete them.
Request logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records standard technical information when you visit, such as the time, your IP address, the page requested and any error. We may also log short diagnostic messages when an AI request fails. We don't log the contents of your files.
Rate limiting. To stop abuse, requests are counted per IP address for short periods of time.

4. What stays in your browser

Your subjects, units, uploaded files, generated tests, scores and chat history are stored in your browser (in IndexedDB) on the device you use, under your account. QuizAde's servers do not keep a copy. This means they don't sync to other devices, and clearing your site data, using a private window, or uninstalling the browser removes them. Back up anything important.

5. What is sent to AI providers

When you generate a test or final exam, edit a test by chat, check answers, or grade your work, the relevant text and images from your material, and the question or answer involved, are sent to our server and forwarded to an AI provider to produce the result. Today those providers are Cloudflare Workers AI and Google Gemini. We use the response to show you the result and then discard the request. We don't use your material to train models and we don't build profiles from it.

The providers have their own terms and privacy policies. On free tiers in particular, a provider may keep submitted content for a limited time, allow people to review it for quality and safety, and use it to improve its services. Because of this, don't upload anything you wouldn't want processed that way, including other people's private information, medical or financial records, passwords or government ID numbers.

6. How we use information

To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
To generate tests, check answers, edit tests and grade work when you ask.
To apply daily limits and prevent abuse, fraud and overloading of the service.
To fix problems and keep the service running.
To answer messages you send us and to tell you about important changes to the service or these documents.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it or rent it to anyone.

7. Who we share information with

Service providers that run QuizAde. Cloudflare (hosting, database, request logs and Workers AI) and Google (Gemini AI, and Sign in with Google). Apple is involved only if you choose Sign in with Apple. They process information on our behalf or, for sign-in, on yours.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or if it is needed to protect someone's safety, or to protect the service from serious abuse.
A change of ownership. If QuizAde were transferred to someone else, account information could move with it, and this policy would continue to apply unless we told you otherwise.

We don't share your uploaded material with other users. There is no public profile, feed or sharing feature.

8. Where information is processed

Cloudflare and Google run servers in many countries, so information may be processed outside the country where you live. By using QuizAde you understand that your request may be handled in those places under their security practices.

9. How long we keep it

Account record: until you ask us to delete your account.
Sessions: up to 30 days if you choose "Remember me", otherwise until you close the browser or log out. Logging out ends the session.
Daily usage counts: a few days.
Request logs: kept by Cloudflare for the period its own policies set.
Study material and tests: stored only in your browser, until you delete them or clear your site data. We keep no copy.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, short-lived cookies to complete Google or Apple sign-in safely, and your browser's local storage and IndexedDB to hold your subjects, tests and small preferences such as how many questions you last chose. We don't use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking or analytics scripts. If your browser blocks these, you won't be able to sign in or save your work.

11. Security

Passwords are hashed with a salt, session tokens are stored only as hashes, and all traffic to quizade.com uses HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else, and log out on shared devices. If we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell the people affected as the law requires.

12. Your choices and rights

Delete your work: delete a file, unit, test or subject inside the app, or clear site data for quizade.com in your browser.
Delete your account: contact us and we will delete your account record, sessions and usage counts.
Access or correct your information: ask us what we hold about you (it is short: your email, sign-in method and usage counts) and we will send it or correct it.
Withdraw sign-in access: you can remove QuizAde from your Google account settings, or your Apple account settings, at any time.

Depending on where you live, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights over your information, including the right to object to or restrict processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will honor valid requests. We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects: tests and grades are practice feedback only.

13. Children

QuizAde is meant for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you are under 18, please use QuizAde with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Links to other sites

QuizAde may link to other sites, such as Google or Apple account pages. We aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We'll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll give a clearer notice, such as a message when you sign in. If you keep using QuizAde after a change, you accept the updated policy.
